Already Thinking About The Holidays? You Should Be.
Summer just ended and we’re already getting into holiday mode, crazy right? Not at all. Business owners across the country are starting to ramp up operations to get ready for their busiest time of the year.
The most wonderful time of year
Winter is typically a tough time for Canadian businesses. Customers opt to stay at home in the warmth instead of trekking out to their favourite local restaurant or shop. Through all the cold, there is a shining light for small business during the period, the holiday shopping season.
As far back as the late 19th century, the holiday shopping season would start after Thanksgiving with Black Friday. Because some businesses can make enough profit during the holiday season to keep them afloat for the whole year, we are seeing the phenomenon of “Christmas Creep”, which keeps moving the shopping season earlier and earlier. Even if summer just came to a close, the time to make the most of this year’s season is now.
How can my business take advantage?
There’s no doubt your business wants to capitalize on eager shoppers, here are a few ways you can set your business up for success:
1. Hire extra employees
Even when you’re at capacity, your staff should be able to accommodate all of your customer’s needs. If you need to staff up to handle this, don’t wait until it’s too late.
2. Stock up on inventory
If all goes as planned, products will be flying off the shelves. Make sure you have enough to feed your customer’s big appetites.
3. Hold holiday promotions
Every business is trying to capitalize on the busy season, you need to stand out from the pack.
4. Run advertising campaigns
Throwing some extra cash into your marketing budgets will help take your holiday push to the next level.
What do I need to make it happen?
The last thing you want to do is miss out on the opportunity the season brings. If your business is short on cash flow to make the holiday season the success it should be, it’s worth your while to find out if you qualify for financing. The big push is starting sooner than you might think – get ahead of it.
